Andrew J. Keenan, [1819-1907], Cabell County, West Virginia, Obituary
GOOD MAN GONE"
"Life of Andrew Jackson Keenan Was Exemplary in All Its Details"
"Andrew Jackson Keenan, a former resident of Guyandotte, died at ten o'clock on the night of January 21st, at the residence of his sister, Mrs. P. H. Hoffman, in Wilmore, Ky.
Mr. Keenan was born in Nicholas county, West Virginia, February 26, in the year of 1819, and lived to the advanced age of 87 years, 10 months and 26 days.
He was first married in the year 1838 and his first wife died in 1849. His son, Sandford Keenan, a prominent merchant of Huntington, died in 1903, two sons, Patrick and Newton Keenan, still survive him. His loved granddaughter, Mrs. Ellen Keenan Seastruck, died in 1903.
Now after having lived seventeen years more than the span allotted for this life, a much loved brother has simply passed away. In his last moments he quietly bid adieu to his loved ones and closed his eyes to earthly affairs.
During his whole life he was an exemplary Christian gentleman, as is attested by all who knew him. He was not simply a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, south, but a leader in that denomination.
Mrs. P.C. Hoffman and Mrs. Robert Keenan will arrive on C. & O. train No. 2 this afternoon. Friends of the deceased can view the remains at the residence of his granddaughter, Mrs. Norma Rice, 520 Eighth street. The funeral services will be held at two-thirty Thursday afternoon in the Johnson Memorial church, south. Interment in Spring Hill cemetery."
