It has been nearly a month since your post appeared on this message board with no responses. There are other methods for retrieving obituaries.

Buffalo, New York, is in Erie County. The obituaries for 1936 are on microfilm in two places:

Obituary and death notice research can be performed in person at:

Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society, Research Library (BECHS) and
Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Grosvenor Room (BECPL)

If you are unable to perform the research personally, you can write to the Erie County Historical Society and inquire about volunteer services. The address will be available on-line. If there are no volunteer services, then you can inquire about having a paid researcher review the microfilm for the obituary you seek. Most often, the libraries keep a list of them. Such people generally have a low rate per hour and charge for posting and handling results. I have found this method to be entirely satisfactory in the past.

Without an exact date of death, the person reviewing the microfilm for 1936 must read every microfilmed edition of the Buffalo, New York, newspapers extant in 1936.
This method is time consuming but there really is no alternative to this last ditch type of effort.

Also, sometimes the county libraries have books which have indexed the obituaries. These however are rare. Nevertheless, I would check with the Erie County Public Library to learn what they may have available vis-a-vis obituaries.

If you are a serious family historian, this is how to proceed to get the obituary you desire. I wish you success.
