Thank you Carol and Cynthia, Stuart, Lila, James, Linda and anyone else who contacted me through this message board or by direct email. I have compiled all the wonderful information you have provided and will take it with me to England when I leave here a week from today. It is great that I heard from descendants of Matthew, Susanna and my own William. That is three out of the four known children of Thomas Keene (1593-Jan. 1652/3) and his wife Mary. I definitely will let you know if I find any new clues that shed light on the parents of our immigrant ancestor, Thomas Keene. I visited the lovely Otley Manor on a previous trip to England and have lots of information on the Gosnold family. Although the Gosnold family land was centered around the area of Otley, Swilland, and the general vicinity north of Ipswich in Suffolk, the family members also seemed to spend time in London, Kent, Cambridge, Surrey - in fact all of the southeastern counties of England. There seems to be much less information on the Keene family, but the Keene name appears in many of these same counties. I will do my best to sort it out and either prove or disprove the connection between our Thomas Keene and the Thomas Keene, son of Thomas Keene and Elizabeth Gosnold. As to our Thomas Keene's wife, Mary, is there any proof that her maiden name was Thorley, or is this based strictly on the will of Edward Thorley, thought possibly to be her brother? Thanks again. I will be in touch when I get home. Betty in Louisiana P.S. Carol, it sounds like we will just miss each other as you will be leaving England about the same time I arrive. I love meeting new cousins, no matter how distantly related. Hopefully, we will have another chance. Notify Administrator about this message?
