I have a Keen family in Cumberland CO., NC by 1815. This is what I know.

Alsey Keen (must be married name) was b. abt. 1768 in NC. She is on the 1820 Cumberland CO., NC census with 4 females. She had a dau Clary who married Minton Jones. Another dau was Mary Temperence who married Wm Meggs. Alsey was living with Mary and Wm on the 1850&60 Anson CO. NC census. Alsey may have been related to Edith___,Gilbert, Renfrow, Swindle. Second husband of Edith, James Renfrow is indentured to Clary Keen in 1815 for land, house, animals etc for her mother Alsey use. Clary and Minton are sellling this land in 1829 to James Renfrow and Alsey Keens neighbor John Adams. James Renfro died in 1823.

Does this sound like it would be part of your Johnston CO., NC Keen/Keene family? Wake CO., NC broke off from Johnston CO., NC. The Renfrow's and Keen's lived on the Cumberland and Wake CO., line.

Julia
