Stuart, where did you find the information on Thomas Kean being brought over as a headright in 1631? Whose claim was he on? I'm assuming he is somewhere in the Virginia Land records for Grants to the Northern Neck area. Please look for your reference, as I too am looking for my 1631 reference that lead me to the same assumption. I hope to hear from you soon.
