Hey Ernie,That sounded as though you had some research done on the MA Keenes.I've been trying to tie my great great grandmother Philena Keene Hewlett to the New Bedford/Fairhaven Keenes and subsequently back to the Pembroke MA Keenes.Philena m. Samuel Hewlett in Fairhaven MA. 1836.There is a Joseph Keene in Fairhaven as a householder in 1830.There are marriage records for the marriage of Obadiah Keene and Tabatha Tripp, both of New Bedford, in 1842.Philena named two of her children Joseph and Obadiah. She named one of her daughters "Delena Staples Hewlett" (my g.grandmother), And I found the marriage of Delena Keene of Fairhaven to Benjamin Staples in 1837.
So, I'm wondering if you have any info on these Keenes and more, if you know of the tie-in between these Keenes and the Pembroke Keenes (if in fact there is one, and the similarity of early names in each place lead me to believe there well might be - specifically Ebenezer in each place in the 1800 U.S. census.)Since the Fairhaven area was a Quaker Stronghold in the days when Quakers were still being persecuted in most of MA, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they split from the Pembroke crew and headed south as a result of becoming Quakers.Anything you might know would be really helpful.Blessings-Chuck
