Richard Keep, convict
Posted by: Philip Keep Date: June 26, 2001 at 11:24:49

I have been told that the Richard Keep transported to Australia in 1808 is a direct ancestor of mine - born 1765 in Wootton, Beds. I am beginning to have doubts about this because a) I have found parish records relating to my ancestor in Wootton in 1809 and 1810, two years after Richard Keep was transported. b) the convict was said to be from Surrey, and I know of a different Richard Keep living in Richmond, Surrey who had children baptised there in 1792, 1794 and 1796.

Does anyone have any direct evidence to prove that the Richard Keep who was transported came from Bedfordshire?
