Henry Keep: Extract from 1994 Keep Family Geneaology. pg 149-152) Born 22 June 1818. died 30 July 1869. Born very poor, served time as an indentured servant, ran away from that... eventually worth "millions". 1861 to 1864 he was treasurer of Michigan, Southern & Northern Indiana RR. Was Pres. of New York Central for 6 mo. in 1866 (followed by Commodore Vanderbilt). For last year of his life (6/68--7/69) he was pres. of Chicago and Northwestern RR / controlling manager of North Indian RR / pres. of Cleveland & Toledo RR. "He was a temperate, moral & prudent man." Married Emma Woodruff of Watertown, NY. Yes, he lived in NYC. He was also a member of the NY Stock Exchange.
1. John Keep (our common ancestor) died 26 Mar 1676 in Springfield, Mass. father of 2. Samuel father of 3. Matthew father of 4. Matthew father of 5. Heman father of 6. HENRY father of 6. Emma Gertrude (Halsey) no children.
