Circa 1870s photo of Hamilton H. Keep of Indiana

I purchased the subject undated studio portrait of a young man taken by Jones Studio, Angola, IN. It is identified on the back of the mount in period handwriting:

"H. H. Keep
Angola
Ind"

I believe this individual is the Hamilton H. Keep listed in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Census data for Franklin Township, DeKalb Co., IN; the 1900 Census data for Grant Township, Waterloo town, DeKalb Co., IN; and the 1910 and 1920 Census data for Pleasant Township, Angola city, Steuben Co., IN. He is also mentioned in a couple of online genealogies.

Hamilton H. Keep, a farmer turned public school teacher, was born 14 Sep 1849 in IN and died 15 Apr 1923 in IN. He was the son of a farmer, Orrin Keep, born 1821 in OH, and Amanda Beard, born 1825 in OH. Hamilton was first married to Emma R. Powers, born 31 Jul 1852 in IN, died 30 Oct 1913. The couple had two children--Winfred Powers, born Mar 1882 in IN, and Ruth F., born Aug 1883 in IN. Hamilton's second wife was Nina (maiden name unknown), born about 1873 in IN.
