Obit for Mrs. Grace Kautz (Duffy Keeter)

December 5, 1976 Enid, Oklahoma

Mrs Grace Kautz, 93 died late Sunday in a local nursing home. Her service will be Wednesday at 2 PM in Henniger-Allen Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Vernon Pendleton and the Rev. Melvin Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Kautz was born March 7, 1883 in Yellville, Arkansas. She spent her early married life in Laverne, Oklahoma. The former Grace Keeter Firestone, she married Fred Kautz in Wellington, Kansas. He died in 1947. She moved to Enid in 1920 and was employed as a seamstress for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and TEL Sunday school class.

Survivors include one son, James Shurl Firestone, Longmont, Colorado; two step daughters, Mrs. I.W. (Ruth) Pope, Oklahoma City and Mrs. Glen (Ethel) Chandler, Fort Worth, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Fred, she was preceded in death by three sons.


** notes. She was born Duffy Iler Keeter. Her other 3 sons were: John Wilson (Willy) Firestone, died 1973 (my grandfather), Albin Lewis Firestone, died 1961 and Jack C. Firestone, died 1975.
