Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I am a direct descendent of Cynthia Sarah Ann Cherry. Here's what I know/have heard. She was the daughter of James Cherry (b. May 17, 1777, Rutherford County, N.C. d.. Feb 11, 1856 Rutherford County, N.C.).Her mother was Elizabeth Carpenter Cherry (b. 1789, d. December 24, 1868) Cynthia was born 1844 in Rutherford County, N.C. and died in 1888 in Marion County, Arkansas. She married James Andrew Keeter in N.C. We have been unable to establish his death date or place.
The family tradition is that Cynthia became pregnant by Rob Callahan and went, while pregnant, to Marion County. That child, Nancy Ann Keeter, was born June 06,1879, in Bruno, Arkansas (Marion County) and died August 5, 1955, in Yellville, AR. After Cynthia's death Nancy was reared by relatives including her half brothers and sisters. She had her mother's married name. She married Thomas Belvin Keeter and bore 12 living children.
