My family came from northwest Arkansas around the
Harrison/Yellville area in 1907 just before
Oklahoma statehood. The story is there were two
Keeter brothers that left North Carolina one going
to Texas and the other to Arkansas from which we
are derived. A common name that surfaces is James
Justus. Also John. My grandfather was John
Franklin. His father was Richard(Dick). I don't
know why, but my family did not keep in contact
with apparent relatives left in Arkansas as far as
I know.
I have met a Cecil Keeter from Walters, OK,
who says he is from the Texas side. I have noted a
listing for a small town northwest of Fort Worth
named Keeter, Texas. My fathers name was Cecil.
I am interested in hearing from anyone to
learn about the Keeter family, and if we might
have definite common ancestors. Would appreciate
any information on anyones research about the
family. Do we come from English decent, etc?
