Teresa - You are in the Keiffer Forum and using the spelling of Keifer. Actually, the family you are researching spelled the name Kieffer. Abraham Kieffer, Jr. was the son of the immigrant Johann Caspar Kieffer who came to America with his brother Abraham on the ship "Two Brothers" in 1748. They settled at York, PA. George Frederick b. 1761 at York was a son of Abraham and Christina Sprengle. When Abraham died Christina married Jacob Welshontz. The story is that George Frederick hated his step father, changed his name to Frederick Cooper and joined the Revolution. He later married Dorothea Coll and they had children Daniel, Henry, John, William, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and two others. A descendant of George Frederick, Charley Cooper, was writing a book about this family a couple of years ago, but I have not heard from Charley for the last few years, so I don't know how it is going.
