Correct Pronunciation of Keigher?

I'm having trouble finding my Keigher ancestors in census records, so I decided to try different spellings of the name. Soundex isn't much help. I have been pronouncing it "Kiger" with a long i and I have been using variations of that to do searches (without any luck)
I do have a death certificate of a ancestor whose mother was a Keigher--but her maiden name is listed as "Keer" on the death certificate.
I googled "pronunciation of the name Keigher" and found a couple of sites that referred to the pronunciation of Keigher as "Keer", "Ke-ar", "Kegger", and "Cay-hair"
I found a site that says that the name is sometimes corrupted into "Carr"
Does anyone have any insight as to the correct way that this name was pronounced?
Thanks for any help.
