Mr.Eden:
I just read your posting re: the Keirs Family name.My maiden name is Keirs. My great-grandfather was John Keirs, Jr. He came from Greenholm, Ayr, Scotland. From a family tree done years ago by my father, I have a list of his brothers and sisters, along with their parents names. Maybe this will help you get started.
John Keirs married Janet Sarah Morton
Their Children:
John Keirs, Jr.
Jean Keirs
Jessica (Jessie) Keirs
Margaret (Maggie) Keirs
Agnes (Aggie) Keirs
Robert Keirs
Ann (Annie) Keirs (never married)
Mary Keirs
Sadie Keirs
My great-grandfather, John Keirs, Jr., was also killed in a coal mine in Midlothian, MD on 04/07/1884.
I also came across a passenger list for the SS Devonia, dated July 9, 1883 with the name of Elizabeth, Jessie, Agnes and Andrew Keirs included. This list was found at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ruthann/ships/http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ruthann/ships/
