Jacob Keith 1764?-1842
From Grundy County Gazette, Spickard, MO, June 11, 1942 - Coming from Germany in an early day, about 1770 with others among whom was the Wolz family, this Jacob Keith was a Lutheran Minister. The Keiths and Wolzs were very close friends.John Earl Keith, Spickard businessman, is a great-great-great-grandson of Jacob Keith, the pioneer.John Earl has in his possession an old German bible that was prinyed in Germany in 1777.This treasured heirloom originally belonged to Jacob Keith, who, before his death, gave it to the father of the late John Wolz. This old German bible was given to Nathan W. Keith, who, in turn presented it to the late W.E. Keith, father of John Earl Keith, present owner of the book.Excepting that part of the cover is missing, this bible now 165 years old, is still in very good condition. - I understand that the Missouri State Geneaology Society may have this bible or family information that was written in it.
I have been working on this line of the Keith family and related families for some time now.I would love to correspond by e-mail with all others who are working on the relatives of Jacob and related families (Schooler/Brummitt/Ashcraft/Ellis/Kelso/
Ratliff/Tharp).I can send via e-mail, in Microsoft Word 97 format, my geneaology work from Family Tree Maker software. It has my work to date, but is in no way perfect.I am trying to verify info and get it as perfect and complete as possible. Please, if any of you fellow researchers have information, especially, photographs, family stories/anectdotes, copies of marriage certificates, birth certificates, military records, deeds, etc., anything that will help me, I would appreciate hearing from you.I am of course willing to re-imburse you for copying costs, postage, etc.I am willing to do the same for you.I would like to form a group of researchers who are working on this line so that we can communicate and update our finds with each other. Of course the most sought after information is who was Jacob Keiths father and brothers and sisters?Who has more information on the Wolz family?PLEASE contact me if you have anything you can help me with and/or would like to join a circle of researchers. I am planning a trip to Grundy County, MO in the next couple of weeks to obtain more information.Cousins - let's work together!Thank you! - Robert
