That's why I made Adam(1780-1849) my starting point.
His will lists his kids and I did all the downline from that list.
Past him, I just did not bother to spend a lot of time with.
I looked at the census, I looked at the deeds and some of the wills, and I looked at some of the church records. When I found enough dead ends to not establish anything absolute, I said screw it and did everything else that WAS documentable.
I'm simply saying to you, that you do not have absolutes to work with.
Adam and Barfy had a son Lewis.
So did his brother Jon and Jacob.
In fact, all three Lewises are born withing moths of each other.
Then Jacob, dropped dead of appoplexy, so his brother Adam took his son Lewis, thus giving him two Lewises. Then, one of those Lewis died too. Which One? Who knows! It could have been either as there are no ages to work with and no death
certificates.
But suddenly, Lewis shows up three counties away!
So did Lewis die or did he just run away from home.
Or is this just a double entry in the census of one of the other two Lewises.
Yes, I'm being a smart ass. But in the process trying to make a point.
One thing about it, if I ever publish and people read your stuff too they'll at least understand that the fricking family showed up some time in the Early 1700's, moved across Pennsylvania by some route and ended up in Cambria and Indiana County. Then they Inbred rampantly for over 10 generations creating a whole clan of basically despicable people plagued with web toes, arthritis cancer, kidney problems, and scoliosis.
