Kirk,
The Keiths were not "run out" of Scotland, actually, but the Clan Chief and many families of the clan supported the Stuart line as king of Scotland, while England intended to crown a Protestant from the family of royals, as king of both Scotland and England. When the Stuart cause failed, those Keiths were considered outlaws in the early 1700s, and most of them fled, primarily to Europe, Ireland and America. That's how so many Keiths came to reside in Germany.
The Gunn/Keith feud originated (over a woman) much earlier in history and included the incident you mentioned...two riders per horse. Was just a notable and long-running feud, having known origins, and was not formally concluded until just a few decades back. Since then the two clans are highly friendly and cooperative.
