I just posted to you on the Speers forum and now we meet again.
Are you a descendant of Salinda Keithley Owings? Salinda is my 3rd great grandmother through her daughter Mary Polly Owings marriage to George Brown.
I have a picture of Salinda and have been searching for her parents for years.
Is your source for Salinda's death place as Wright Co. Missouri from 'The History of the Owings Family' [see below] or from other source?
THE HISTORY OF THE OWINGS FAMILY by Donnell MacClure Owings, PhD, Salt Lake City Family History Library, 929.273Ow3o page 105 (also on microfilm): "Salinda, dau. of --------Keithly of that county [Simpson], who survived him [William, her husband], dying at the home of her son Ephriam, near Hartville, Mo., 1 November 1882." [Laclede County was formed in 1849 from Camden, Pulaski, and Wright Counties.]
'The History of The Owings Family' lists Ephriam's death place as Laclede Co, Missouri, I believe [see below].
THE HISTORY OF THE OWINGS FAMILY by Donnell MacClure Owings, PhD, Salt Lake City Family History Library, 929.273Ow3o page 105 (also on microfilm): "Ephriam of Wright County, Missouri (died in Laclede County, Missouri)." Laclede County was formed in 1849 from Camden, Pulaski, and Wright Counties.
But I recently obtained copies of Ephraim Owings pension wherein was a copy of Declaration For Widow's Pension by Eprhaim's wife Sarah Owings. This Declaration lists that Ephraim died June 21st 1906 at Red Bluff, Cala and that Sarah's post-office address is Red Bluff, County of Tehama, State of California. That Sarah Owings was married to said soldier at Sullivan Ind on the 24th day of March 1854.
Sarah Owings is listed in the 1910 Census as a sister-in-law to John W. Burnett [see below]
Name: Sarah Owings Age in 1910: 74 Estimated birth year: abt 1836 Birthplace: Kentucky Home in 1910: 2-Wd Red Bluff, Tehama, California Neighbors: Race: White Gender: Female Series: T624 Roll: 108 Part: 3 Page: 180B Year: 1910 [living with J [John] W Burnett as head of household-born 1845 Indiana; Sarah is listed as sister-in-law]
In the pension file Sarah is dropped from the Pension roll on 4 Sept 1913 because of 'Death Date not given'.
Please let me know your further thoughts on Salinda and her son Ephriam.
