Ok, just talked to my cousin. The Kelling Nut Company was formed by Max KELLING & a Mr. KARL in Chicago in the early part of the century. (Originally called the "DOUBLE K NUT CO.") Max told my cousin that they used to peddle their product down Michigan Avenue in Chicago when it was a dirt road. Eventually they patented a machine that kept the nuts heated evenly, keeping them fresh. These machines could be seen in Walgreen's stores through the 1950s +...When Mr. KARL left the company is not known, we don't know if it was his death or just a split, but from then on the company became known as the KELLING NUT CO.

Maxamillian KELLING was indeed from Milwaukee, and was said to have 2 sisters there also. Names unknown to date. Keep you posted!
