1697 MD Probate - John Kellow and Mary "Hide"

Hello All -

I finally have more details on the mystery "John Kellow and Mary Hide" (my 6th great g-p's) from a 1697 Maryland Probate. The reference I had seen earlier simply mentioned John and Mary, so I had thought all along that it was John's Probate. It turns out to be a bit different, and we now have even more information than I had hoped! Here's the abstract (I don't have the full text):

"Hide, Thomas, St. Mary's Co., Maryland, 9th February 1697;
19th March 1697.
To eldest daughter Mary Killow and heirs, and to daughter Eliza. Johnson, personalty.
Wife Hannah, extx. and residuary legatee of estate, real and
personal, during life; to pass at her death to 2 daughters afsd.
Test: Stephen Ashby, Jno. Kellow, Joshua Cecell."

So it appears that Thomas Hide and wife Hannah (my 7th greats) wrote his will Feb. 1697 and it was probated March 1697. Thomas and Hannah's eldest daughter Mary married John Kellow. Their son was Thomas "Hide" Kellow born about 1694.

I also have another new reference for John Kellow dated 1704, thanks to a kind soul of the Semmes/Simms Family (who were close to the Kellows later). The 1704 reference is another probate:

"Mr. William Clarkson. March 14, 1704.
Payments to: Edward Jones, Richard Conner, John Kello, Phillip Ryley, Dr. Berry, Mr. Hutchison, Phillip Lesom, Daniell Connell, Mr. James Haddock.
Executrix: Mrs. Ruth Guttrick."

Apparently, John and Mary Hyde Kellow lived past 1700 - how long I don't yet know. The 1697 Probate for Thomas Hide was in St. Mary's County (instead of Charles County as the later references are). St. Mary's is the neighboring county to the east from Charles, at the mouth of the Potomac.

I'm going to start on the Hyde Line now - if ya'll want you can check messages on that Forum to see if anyone knows Thomas Hyde. I also have some more info on Thomas Hyde Kellow, my 5th great. I'll post that in a separate message later today.
