I am also looking for my Kelso family. In the process I have learn that the families coming from Scotland spelled their name Kelso but pronounce it Kelsey. So many records reflect the change in spelling to the way the name was pronounced. My thrid great grandfather was listed as a Kelsey on his first marriage and early census records but his was changed back to its present form Kelso later for his second marriage and census until his death in 1886.I was told that many old timers still pronounce Kelso as Kelsey. All of this research was done in Mississippi. And I still have not located my 3rd great grandfater's parents.A lot of confusion has been created. There is a great book available, Samuel Kelso/Kelsey 1720-1796.Compiled and Published by Dr. and Mrs. Mavis Parrott Kelsey Sr.1984.I got a good look at it through an interlibrary loan.
