Hi Trevor, while searching the internet sites last night 27.03.12 I came across this entry.William Kilton & Sarah Foster are the parents of Esther born 17-10-1844. When Esther died in 1848 her surname was spelt Kelton. Her sister Emma born 1846 died in 1850. Both these girls are shown on Kelton & Kin Family tree as being children of John and Catherine which we now know they are not. I feel it would be safe to say that William born 1849 is the son of this William & Sarah.
This still leaves the question of where did they come from. I haven't found them or him only in the shipping arrivals. Have you succeeded? Amanda from Victoria who has done the lions share of the research into the 3 Kelton Families in Australia has sighted a petition dated 1845 in Adelaide signed by John Kelton and then William so they must have known each other as John's son William would have been only 11 at that time.
