I believe my Solomon Kemp from Smith County, Tennessee was a brother to Murphy Kemp. What I have is that Murphy or Murphee was first married to Ann Baird, died after 1814 in Wilson county, Tn. He then married Sarah Unknown born 4-22-1775. Murphy was born March 21, 1765 in Wake County, N. C. He died @1851 in Smith County. He was listed in the 1850 census 85 years old born N. C. His children were Henry B@1790 Wake County, N.C. Jinks, born January 27, 1792, married Lucretia Hickerson. They had a son Sampson Kemp born 8-25-1837 and died at the Battle of Franklin 11-30-1864. He was a 1st sergeant. There is a picture on USGenweb.com under Smith County, Tn. old pictures. There are several Kemp pictures there. There is also some articles of Cal Gregory, who was the owner/editor of the Macon County times. He was quite a historian and cousin of my grandmothers. Back to the children Burrell b 4-7-1794, Tabitha Kemp b 8-25-1800 who married Jesse Langford, who is also my great great great great on my granddaddy's side. Then there was Nancy Kemp b 4-1-1801, William Mark, b 11-22-1807, Lucyb 2-9-1809, John, b4-22-1812, Charlotte b.2-27-1815, Sallie b6-15-1819 and Ellis b 1814. He married Elizabeth Pankey b 1814. They moved to Missouri. Ellis was shot and killed by a bushwhacker during the Civil War in Madison County, Mo. They had a son Henry M Kemp b 2-24-1841 in Smith County, Tn. He died 4-28-1918 Ozark Co. Mo. He was married to Mary Emmeline Wiley. I think I got all that right. Hope it helps. If you find any other information about the Kemps, namely Solomon supposedly born @1750 in Virginia and prior please keep in touch. Thanks.
