Kemps in Delaware - 1800-1830
I am looking for any information on Delaware Kemps in the early 19th century. My gg/grandfather was born in Delaware in 1828 and listed both parents as also having been born there in the 1880 census.
Generic info as in were they mostly English or Scots would help. Any Germans? From this forum it appears that they were present since the early 17th century.
He was Samuel R. Kemp, b. 1828. d. 1911 - served in Company A of 120th Infantry, a regiment raised in Madison, Indiana.
He married Nancy Claycamp (Klekamp?)of Indiana at an unknown time and had a son in 1871 - Jacob Amos (or Amis) Kemp.
Thanks
