I am looking for any information on Jesse B. Kemp who was born in Ohio in about 1826.
Jesse moved to San Francisco where he is found in business directories and Great Register from 1866 to early the 1870's. He might have also done a stint of mining in Columbia, Tuolumne County in 1870, based on a census entry.
I believe that Jesse B. Kemp was married or a consort to Margaret Pretorius, b. Kentucky in 1848, and a resident of San Francisco from the mid 1850's to at least 1880. She had a son named Henry Kemp, b. abt 1868 in San Francisco. The Pretorius family originated in Prussia
Jesse had several professions, but he was mainly in the construction and contracting business. He did do some blacksmithing as well with a brother of the above Margaret Pretorius.
