Yes, Maam!:
Yes, there is much previous confusion and conflation regarding the ancient Kymptons-Kemptons-Kimptons.
You might be reading from one of the recent genealogical additions published by the New England Genelaogicla Society of the differetn ancestral branches of a certain lady, that has a Kempton ancestry. They did a very good job in their research based upon "Lady Sedgwick," Margarite Kempton Stevens, Morton Saunders, and myself.
This might be where you are having much difficulty in ferreting out further information.
But, if you say you are Ruth - John (II, Jr.)- John (I, Sr.)- Ephraim (III) - Ephraim (II, Jr.) - Ephraim I (Sr.), then you are my ancestry ... and the following you need to print out ... amongst other information.
I can provide your ancestral information via Margarite Kempton Stevens book, Kempton/Kimpton Families, pgs. 4-13, 235-6.
You can contact Morton Saunder's daughter Susan, if she will provide Morton's documentation in his book. Her email is listed in these KE and KI surname forums.
In regards to the US (and Canadian cadet branches)dynasty of Ephraim Kempton Sr. and Jr.:
I list the direct-male names backward into the FitzAlan Earls of Arundel.
In the 1980s I contacted and had diverse and large communications with Margarite Kempton Stevens (of Reno, NV)and Morton Saunders (of Rhode Island, and Mayflower Society).Margarite wanted to document her branch of the Kemptons who were part of the Mormon history.Recently, Grace Kempton Foulke (and another seen on these surname forums) seems to be taking on the mantle from Margaret and doing the descendants of these Mormon Kemptons.
In discussion with Morton Saunders, Mort was dedicated to publishing all his research (which I remember him visiting
1967-69, my father in Knappa, Oregon (way west of Portland, OR) and reviewing the genealogical material he gave us.Mort never did totally publish all the info he had.He finished at the 11th generation, of which he truly had 13 generations across the board. The immensity of the book dictated either a multivolume series, or a singular book (which ended at the 11th generation (my grandfather's level). His son and daugther will be able to provide information that is in the book (but they prefer that their father's wish is that you purchase his documentation via the publishing company they hired.
Both Margarite and Mort were updating the genealogical works of the Boston upper crust "Lady Sedgwick."She married a Kempton, but didn't know the ancestry of the Kemptons ... and started to document the different branches in the late 1800s/early 1900s.Hers is the first general documented work of the Kempton of the Americas. She took the lineages down to the 9th and 10th generations.
Margarite's book came out shortly before her death in the late 1980s.Mort's book came out after his death in the late 1990s, published in the 2000s.
In regards to me, I set out to finish the "financially killing task" of finding out all the ancestral lineages of the Kympton, Kempton, and Kimptons of the American/Canadians and the British Isles. The American lineage is only through the Ephraim Jr. and Sr. Kempton line of Scituate, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts Bay Colony, MASS, USA.
To date, nearly a quarter million dollars (US) and a massive chunk of (financially uncalculable) research time has refound the ancient Kympton-Kempton-Kimpton heritage.
I was the one giving information to Mort in the mid/late 80s regarding the validation of when Ephraim and Ephraim came to the US, later than "Uncle" Manasseh (widow bachelor brother) purchased the farm they eventually occupied. They came in the winter 1639/40.
From there, with assistance of a very high genealogical researcher, and personal friend in the Mormon church and English/American genealogical circles, assisted in finding out "anything and everything" that was named Kympton, Kempton, and Kimpton.
We re-assembled the ancient genealogies to prove many genealogical cadet branches were extinct. The greatest-noted Kemptons of Monken Hadley and London (with the blue shield Pelican) is extinct in the femlae lineages. This is readily documented by Ancestry of London ... and other British Isles genealogical firms.
The only true genealogical coat of arms that the Kemptons or any name variant comes down from our ancestral FitzAlan earldom lineage. That is a massively beautiful blue shield with a rampant (walking-charging-clawing) lion within a golden border. All other coat of arms are extinct and not ours or any other Kempton or Kimpton, no matter who is proffering them.
Through various other genealogical organizations (of London and Crown charter status) I spent major equity in finding out any more information.I was not delighted in their skewed and ($&^%*&%^) findings.I almost wrote HM the Queen in challenging their royal charter.(I DID and DO have the influence and power to make such communiques of force).
Besides all these expenditures, I had forgotten in my childhood that my grandfather had taken me out into his pasture ("back 40"), marched off from the east fencing and the north fencing certain paces until ... with shovel in hand ... he whacked the soil and there was a hollow sound.I was given the task of digging up around this hollow spot.Eventually, as a little grandson of age 6 (1960) I hit upon what would eventually turn out to be (and hauled out of its burial arrangement) .... an old steamer like trunk covered in a canvas-like shroud keeping out moisture. The trunk was pitched all over with tar or such substance to keep the trunk and interior waterproof.
Some things happened after we opened the trunk which I can not publicly print here.
In 1998, in association with a few "well paid" accomplices, we reapproached the site (which had been sold many decades before to the next owner of the property [my grandfather dying in early spring, months before Kennedy's assassination 1963]}.We recovered the trunk.
That trunk hold the family, and the Kympton-Kempton-Kimpton genealogical archives for what could truly be said to be nearly 2,000 - 4000 years old.Inside are cuneiform tablets, papyri, parchments (which are as old as the Dead Sea Scrolls .... and the State of Israel knows about them! they are that biblically important), and ancient papers, genealogical lists, et al across a variety of ancient nations and languages of Gaul, France, Britain, Germany, Brittany, ....
From 1996-2003, I took exhaustive respite from my company and government/military confidential/classified consulting work to concentrate upon finding out what this trunk held.Grandfather said that (for whatever reasons, I became the next possessor of the trunk, above and beyond my father, my uncle, and my two older brothers) that if "I" was able to ascertain and solve the total knowledge of this archive ... (which had been passed down from male to male for such time that grandfather could not understand) ... that eventually I was to publish the information at the right time to the world.Little did I know as a little child that this archive was passed down nearly 2000 years IF NOT MORE!
If I had known what I know now, I would have run like hell away.I have more platinum hairs on my head from this obligation and responsibility than any normal person could understand.
Well, ... starting in Feb 2003 I started a document that eventually wrote itself. It is the surrounding information of history of what is the direct-male Kympton-Kempton-Kimpton lineage. We descend directly from King David. That does not mean that we are Jews or Jew-ish, but that our ancestors had an ancient faith called Yehidah, which is a parallel definition to the Tribe of Judah. We are Judaic and the religion is Yehidah. We follow the true ancient faith that our Master Jesus taught.
From the times of Jesus ... down to 1066, ... our ancestors were very highly placed in whatever nation they held.We were the Kings of the "Jews (Yehidahs)."We were known and respected as such, irrespective of being national kings, princes, dukes, earls, or even Emperors in the Mideast down through history.
We were second cousins to King William the Conqueror of Normandy, and through time with ntermarriage took over the Earls of Arundel, Shropshire realm. We, and the Percys of Northumberland (our distant Arthurian "Perci"ival" cousins, another Judaic branch from our direct line) were the most powerful Earls in the land.
In the 1550s, the direct-male Earldom lineage of the FitzAlan Arundels became extinct in the male. The remaining poweful female married into the Howards (and the existing fight between Protestants, Catholics, and what we will call Nazarenes (Yehidahs) became the reason our Earldom was passed to the Howards (who are currently Catholics [!] and the most powerful-rich in the British Isles!)
The Kemptons are the descendants of Thomas FitzAlan, Earl of Arundel. The Kempton Manor of Shropshire is the first known Kympton British location. All other Kempton, HERTS, Kempton Park, London, and other 1800s place names are only later sites. The Kemptons descend from Shropshire.
The Kempton Manor, as the Earl's son-to-be-Earl training residence, is known back to the early 1200s if not back to 1066.The Kemptons are found as the Earl's son to be the King's Messenger in the 1100s, 1200s.What better way to keep track of an Earl's son, than to keep him under the King's royal thumb and have him taking your messages here and there.
All the Kemptons of such King's Messenger office ... across many generations ... became extinct in the first generation. We can not find any historical branching of any other lineages from 1066 - 1550.
One branch and historical note is that a son Richard, son of Edmund FitzAlan 1307 (who had his head chopped off) always implied that he was the Earl-to-be after his father. These entries are recorded in the Shropshire records ca 1300-1330s.This lineage, which initially threw us for a genealogical loop could not be connected into any descendant lineages.
The only lienage we can find of any historical branches is from the recognized sons of Earl William, and his son Earl Thomas FitzAlan.William had sons Thomas, John, and George. The sons John and George could never be accounted for as being the Kempton patriarchs.
Yet, when we researched backwards from Ephraim Kempton Sr., with wife Elizabeth Wilson (of the Scottish Wilson sept of the clan Gunn), with descent from the two Logan compatriots who carried King Robert's heart back to Jerusalem to be buried, but died fighting the Moors and became buried with fame in Spain.
Ephraim Sr. and Elizabeth had children Ephraim Jr., John, and daughter Annis. From the only extant records, alongside the massive London plagues of the early 1600s up to 1640, we lose sight of John, Annis, and wife Elizabeth.
We believe that mother Elizabeth and John died.We lose track of Annis.Either she also died or married and we lose track of her.
Only Ephraim Sr. and Jr. live through the plagues.Brother-Uncle Manasseh came far earlier to the American colonies and enticed them to leave London to come to free land away from politics, wars, and plagues. They came in 1639/40.
As we research back from 1639/40 back to the FitzAlan final discovery, we found the direct male lineage as Ephraim Sr. - George - William - Robert - George Kempton/FitzAlan - Thomas FitzAlan Earl of Arundel ....
In this steamer trunk of massive genealogical charts (which I have blown up blueprint genealogical charts) we document all the male and female lineages of the ancsetry from these documents and historical genealogical national archives.
There was an early confusion that we were from George - Earl William.Youngest son George Kempton of Earl William and oldest son George Kempton/FitzAlan of Earl Thomas were born at almost the same time period ... and died in nearly the same time period.George Kempton of Thomas was an international birth child.Part of the problems the FitzAlans had was that in the late 1400s they started marrying the royal Welsh, royal Italian HR Emperor (!), German, and Scottish expatriate nobility (and royalty) lineages.
More than likely, this is why the nationalistic English parliament took over the Arundel earldom away from the FitzAlans and passed it to the Howards. They considered us unsteady regarding our national allegiance. These twisted twit-minded little bastards never understood our integrity and value above and beyond any national loyalty. The FitzAlans were the most devoted to English and British interests.Look at Burkes Dormant and Extinct lineages FitzAlan pgs. 200-202.We were Admirals, Generals, Supreme Court Justices, Castle Holders, International Ambassadors for the English King, King's Messengers ....we were eternally oyal. And when we fought, we kicked butt everywhere we went.Only the Percies (our cousins) were as resolute and adamant as us.
By looking at the archives (away from the knowledge of the Mormon genealogist) we assembled the near entire genealogical ancestry cadet branches of the Kymptons-Kemptons-Kimptons.Yes, we tried to branch back into the coats of arms Kemptons of Monken Hadley et al.Not to happen. All of our lineages, cadet branches, and namesaking of ancestor-descendants proved that the Kemptons were established as a viable surname dynasty ca 1550s ... and they start becoming a surname dynasty out of Hertfordshire.
The establishment of the Kemptons came from Kempton manor Shropshire under the FitzAlan earldom. As we were ousted from the Shropshire earldom, we were also "invited" by the Howards to move out of the Kempton manor grounds. The Kemptons migrated to Hertfordshire, where previous financial investments of the British FitzAlans held vast lands of sheep and grazing lands.Notice sheep (not pigs, biblical kosher standards). We were the major sheep, meat, leather, and wool suppliers to the British nation.
From the only extant genealogical primary records across the entire Britsh Isles, we see the Kemptons coming from this Hertfordshire region and procreating into multiple branches ... many are vague as there are many missing records ... due to the later national wars, plagues, disasters etc.
Kempton, HERTS is named after the Kempton daughter who marries into the Howard-Mowbray dynasty. The implication that ancient words of Chemington or other variants are the modern ancestral name of Kempton are bunk. The name Kempton is an ancestral surname and geo-location name from Shropshire.
From HERTS the other branches wandered the land.As Earl's sons and grandsons, we "sucked up" to our more wealthy and still noble cousins. We gained investiture as freemen employees in the HERTS region due to that Kempton-Mowbray-Howard female.
The FitzAlans, last Earl Henry, and father Thomas were international and variously intermarried.Thomas was involved in the support of the Protestant Germans against the Catholic French. In the time that he was in Bavaria, he married the daughter of Duke George Dives of Bavaria. This son George FitzAlan/Kempton is the namesake of this German George. This entire maternal lineage is massively important for world history.
Later, and the Duke's daughter's death, Thomas remarried native English stock, as recorded in English national genealogies.Because of this international mixture George was sidelined from the Earldom to his pureblood English younger brother.
From George FitzAlan/George Kempton, the same international intermarrying mindset took place. This was the time that the Presbyterian Scottish church and the James Stewarts were chasing the royal and noble cousins out of Scotland. As sons of Earls, they would marry the same level of nobility. From the archives, we note that George FitzAlan married the Scottish exile daughter Janet of the High Exchequer Sir William Crichton, personal aide to James III.
They have son Robert, namesaked after maternal great grandfather Robert Crichton.Robert Kempton is in the pure maternal lineage the great grandson of James II Stewart of Scotland.
Robert again internationally marries the exiled Black Douglas clan of Earl John Douglas of Morton.Wife Elizabeth has namesaked son William after a double intermarriage connection to the Scottish Crichtons Sir William Crichton, ... and the great grandfather Earl William FitzAlan.
William Kympton marries Katherine Pole of the famous Pole- Neville clan.Part of this intermarriage which is commonly seen in the noblity is marrying back the second cousin females gaining further political and financial networks.William marries the granddaughter of Joanne FitzAlan, daughter of Earl Thomas. They have the namesaked son George, named after George FitzAlan, the great2 grandfather George Plantagenet of Clarenece (great grandson of Edward III and the great Plantagenets dyansty, John of Gaunt, King-maker Nevilles, Spanish royalty, Mortimers, Percies, and the Beauforts), and Lord George Neville of Abergavenny.
This George is the father of Ephraim Kempton Sr.He had three marriages.First with a second cousin. Then with two royal French-Scottish royal descent granddaughters who were connected with the last acting FitzAlan Earl Henry.
Ephraim Sr. married the Scottish expatriate Wilson clan of the Eures of the Berwick upon Tweed region. The Eures were associated with the FitzAlans and Kemptons through close female lines. This is why George moved from Hertfordshire to Berwick upon Tweed. His departure from Berwick is postualted upon the fact that the leading Eure died, and they became outcaste as royal-noble patronage and employment.
Elizabeth Wilson is a descendant in the maternal lines to the Logans who carried King Robert's heart back to be buried in Jerusalem. They died in Spain fighting the Moors.
This Kempton dynasty came from Shropshire to Hertfordshire(Thomas - Robert - William - George).ALL OTHER Kempton dynasty branches originate from here.My line George eventually moves up into the Berwick upon Tweed region and works for another FitzAlan-Kempton female branch in the Lord Eures of Northumberland.
In early 1600s, George and family move down to London, where historical records are missing.George dies in obscurity.Mother is re-married into an Essex landed gentry position. If you only knew that George married his third wife (who was younger sister to his second wife).Mary Jersey is the daughter of the last FitzAlan Earl Henry FitzAlan, who married the hidden royal daughter Mary Valois, daughter of King Francis II Valois of France and Queen Mary Stewart of the Scots and French. The second wife was the older daughter Francis Jersey. The FitzAlans sheltered these French-Scottish daughters and eventually intermarried them.
A historical aside is that the last Earl Henry FitzAlan did have relations with HM Queen Elizabeth I, and sired the famous William Shakespeare, namesaked after his paternal grandfather Earl William FitzAlan. His surname is related to Earl Henry's womanizing (Henry the Rake: womanizeer)
and warrior fighting ability in the Mideast (Warrior Sheik, shake spear), when Queen Elizabeth spurned his marital overtures.Henry took out his frustrations upon the muslims.William Shakespeare is a FitzAlan. The FitzAlans and Kemptons were that close to becoming the royal Consort-King dynasty of the British Isles!
In regards to any other American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand, and British Isle Kympton-Kempton-Kimpton who can not trace back into this direct-male lineage, you are from the other cadet branches of the Kemptons of Hertfordshire.
I would be glad to try and ascertain these other lineages in further validating this ancient steamer trunk of genealogical records.
But, the Kemptons are only from the two potential generations of Earl William FitzAlan with sons Thomas, George, and John ... and Earl Thomas with George FitzAlan.
All these Kymptons-Kemptons-Kimptons, by noting their noble ancestry and "mobility" around the British Isles were freemen and totally able to move with their profession.Peons and serfs did not move. They were tied to the land.People did not hardly move from one shire to another in the 1500s without being nobility or sons of nobility. This also proves the fact of the Kemptons noble ancestry. They were moving ... and they moved in great distant leaps. They were still employed by their richer cousins in their estates, proving their still high standing and upper/middle class standing.
Only with the establishment of Ephraim Sr., Ephraim Jr., and son John in the tailoring business, were they truly upper middle class businessmen, much like today's London district tailors. The Kemptons were financially stable and well to do.People who fly in jets, sail overseas and travel around the nation, have money, and economic freedom.
Only the domestic and international politics and wars caused the Kemptons of the higher bloodline connections to "get out of Dodge (London)", avoid the wars and plagues and create a new nation devoted to freedom and liberty. Those who know the Kemptons in the Americas know our hard-fast heritage and warrior standing of our ancestors down to modern day.It was my ancestral father and son who "started" the Battle of Lexington April 15, 1776, the day before the Battle of Concord.....
I have documented the majority of this informaiton in my massive Ebook.1500 pages, 500,000 words, nearly 200 pages geneaglogical charts.Any Kempton-Kimpton who desires the Ebook can notify me and it will be sent to them. The findings will change your life, as much as it has changed mine.
So ... for those British KEs and KIs, I wish you well in searching the British civil registers in getting the birth, marriage, and death records (available through ancestry.com and genealogy.com amongst others) and then go back into the St. Catherines House records to eventually get back into the ancient parish records of the shires. All the Kemptons will eventually be shown to filter back into the Hertfordshire region. Then they will connect back into my direct-male lineage.
I am not able to search the Saint Catherines House or parish records at this time, and especially not the 1630-2000 British civil registrations.I would suggest that you contact my friend John Kitzmiller II of progeneologist.com of Salt Lake City, UT.John can readily achieve your breakthroughs, having all the previous Kympton dynasty cadet branches from which to build upon.
I wish you well. You are a very famous ancient royal and noble lineage. The dynasty of the Kemptons is also biblicly prophetic for the future ... read it in my book.
Read my entry in genealogy.com under the Kempton and Kimpton surnames regarding the "K" research findings which I submitted long ago, and most recently updated.
King David and Solomon would be proud of us.God bless us all.
