In the newspaper, Southern Democrat, published at Cahawba, Alabama, Aug. 19, 1837:

Died, on Sunday, the 6th inst., at his residence in Pleasant Valley, Major Michael J. Kenan, in the 52nd year of hia age, after a painful illness of about 2 years. The subject of this tribute was born in Dublin (Duplin) Co., NC,March 25, 1779. During the late war with Great Britain, he was distinguished as an officer, and held and important trust at Charleston, SC. In early 1818 he emigrated to Alabama.

I have no interest in this family and only post this as a resource.
