Hi Cousin,
Yes, you are included in the 2000 edition of The Kenan Family book. You are a descendent of James K. Kenan who is believed to be descended from William Kenan. William is thought to be a brother of Thomas and Felix Kenan of eastern North Carolina. It appears that James K. Kenan had only one son named James Kenan. James and his wife had eight children, one who was James Elwood Kenan, your grandfather. Your father Elwood James Kenan followed, born April 2, 1922, Lake Victor,Burnett County, Texas. You and your brother Wayne Elwood Kenan then followed. We are not sure to claim those born in Yonkers, NY though. Just kidding! There is much more but you probably would like to read it yourself. The Kenan Family book is available at amazon.com for $40.00. If you have questions in the mean time call me at 912-355-9955, or e-mail me at kkern110@aol.com.
I descended from Thomas Kenan thus we are distant cousins. I know you would enjoy a copy of this book. I was instrumental in getting the first edition, 1967, updated two years ago. We hope to eventually establish a Kenan data collection center to update this valuable family information.
Best to you,
Kenan J. Kern
Savannah, Georgia
