This is going to be fun! You have so much to look forward to. Even though we may be distant cousins, there is much to share regarding the Kenan's from Duplin County, Kenansville, North Carolina. My great, great, great grandfather, James Kenan, (there are several James Kenans) was honored by having Kenansville, NC named for him. Liberty Hall, the Kenan homeplace in Kenansville is a museum that has much history of the Kenan family. You need to make a trip down to see this sometime. Nearby in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is the University of NC which has much more Kenan family history. The football stadium is named Kenan Statium for William Rand Kenan who gave money to build the statium years ago. The business school is the Kenan/Flagler Business School, thus named for the Kenan family and Henry Flagler who married Mary Lillie Kenan. I could go on but there is not enough space. Send your telephone number and I will call you on my toll free line.
PS If you look in Chapter 1, I Chronicles of the Bible you will see the following: Adam, Seth, Enoch, Kenan, and so forth. The Kenan name is very popular in Turkey and surrounding areas. Apparently, the name eventually moved to Scotland and following the Jacobite Revolt, escaped to Ireland thus to Wilmington, North Carolina. Hope that answers your questions re: Syria connection. By the way, we are about the same age.
