James Kenley - KY 1788
From a marriage bond in Lincoln Co. KY:
James Kenley (as spelled on consent letter from Philip Thurman) married Theodosia Thurman, January 1788.Theodosia Thurman was d/o Philip Thurman.
From other various KY records:
James & Theodosia lived in New Market, on the Rolling Fork River, in Washington Co. (now Marion Co.) KY from 1796-ca.1815.On 10/14/1819 James & Theodosia, of Mercer Co. KY, sold 100ac of their land in Washington Co. KY to Jonathan Rincy(?); On 3/18/1820 James & Theodosia, of Mercer Co. KY, sold land on Popes Creek, in Washington Co. KY, to Henry Thurmond, of Lincoln Co. KY - Henry was s/o Absolom Thurmond of GA, Henry married Polly Kendley, May 1808; Polly's guardian was James Kendley (as spelled in records).
Maybe connected to them: On 5/14/1821 David Kendley bought land in New Market, on the Rolling Fork River, in Washington Co. KY from William & Amelia Thurman.
******
Speculation: I believe Theodosia's brother was Fielding Thurman.I believe Theodosia's father Philip Thurman came to KY from the Buckhorn Creek/Doyles River section of Albemarle Co. VA ca.1787 along with Richard Thurman (relationship unknown - Richard is my line).
Hoping for some connections to my Thurman lines, I find nothing on James Kenley/Kendley/Kinley (all variations found in KY records) before 1788.
Thanks.........Mark Thurman
