Thank you so much for responding to my message on John C Kennedy. Please continue to interact with me because you may be able to unravel our frustration in finding some of our ancestors. We have confirmed the following to be true.
John Camilus Kennedy was born April 8, 1795 in Red Hills, Murray County Georgia. John C married Jane Fergus on March 14,1822 in Madison County Georgia. Jane was daughter of William Fergus and Margaret Armstrong Fergus. John was a surveyor and laid out the town of Cleveland , Tennessee and work in south Tennessee and north Georgia surveying during the Trail of Tears era. John and Jane had 7 children
Martha Louise- born Elbert County Georgia 6/25/1823
Robert Johnson Kennedy b 10/11/1824 Henry County Georgia
William Fergus Kennedy b 7/10/1826 Henry County Georgia
James Armstrong Kennedy b 11/2/1828 Henry County Georgia
John Thomas Kennedy b 4/8/1831 Murray County Georgia
Joseph Marion Kennedy b 8/19/1834 Cedar Shoals Georgia
Elizabeth Jane Kennedy b 11/7/1835 Cleveland Tennessee
Sara Amanda Kennedy b 9/7/1837
My great great grandfather was James Marion Kennedy. Our problem is we don't know who preceded John Camilus Kennedy. We had a fellow helping us 15 years ago that was very knowledgeble of the Kennedy family and he concluded that we were descedants of a Campbell Kennedy but we have never been able to prove that- this fellow died suddenly and we cant pick up that trail. ANY HELP you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have seen some of your previous post on this forum and felt like you could help us but I did not know how to contact you. Please respond. Thanks Ed Kennedy
