Tony Kennington has a new address:
P. A. Kennington (stands for Patrick Anthony)
7 Peate Close
Godmanchester
Huntingdon
Cambridgeshire, England
PE18 8DX
He says he thinks he's found the original Kennington that went to Ireland from England. In a Christmas letter, dated 13 December, 1999, Tony writes:I have continued researching our family history and was excited to find the original Kennington who went from England to Ireland. He was Thomas Kennington born in Lincolnshire, educated at Trinity Cambridge in divinity.Ordained Deacon and Priest 1638/1639. He was Minister for a parish in Yorkshire from 1645 to 1656.The next record for Thomas is in Co. Kerry, Ireland, where he is mentioned in a will in 1668. Thomas died in 1673 and at that time he was the Minister for Kenmare Co. Kerry. He had two children we can find records for.Hanna the oldest was born 1640 and Josias born C1650.At this time I have no records for Hanna, but Josias went to Ireland with his father and he was educated at Trinity Dublin also in divinity.Josias entered the Church of Ireland Ministry as Rector of Kenmare in 1682. He also had one son we have records for, William born 1685.He like his father was educated at Trinity Dublin and ordained in the Church of Ireland Ministry.William was five years older than our oldest known ancestor Ralph.I am working on the theory that William was the oldest brother of Ralph and George."
Contact Tony for the Irish kin stemming from these folks who settled in and around Piltown, Waterford and Kerry, where it seems many of us have roots!
