Hi there, it looks as though we probably have some Kensington ancestors in common.
My great-grandmother Ida Kensington (1869-1955)married John Mckno Ackland of Exeter, and was one of 8 children of Edward Thomas Kensington (d 1901) and his wife Elizabeth Wood (d 1916). E T K's father, also named Edward (1807-1865), was a barrister at Dartmouth. His father, another Edward, married Sophia Brown, daughter of Thomas Brown (1741-1821) and Hannah Heptinstall (1737-1825). Edward's father was John Kensington (b 1728) who married Anne Kilpin. John's father was Edward, and his mother was Mary Kelly. I believe that this Edward's father and grandfather were also named Edward, and that the latter married an Elizabeth Jeffrey in 1670.
There is some suggestion that Edward Thomas Kensington may have been adopted. Does anyone know the name of his wife?
I'd be grateful for any information which fills gaps or corrects errors.
Andrew Haig
