Hi Elaine, I'm looking for Mary Ann KEPHART, who according to her death record (informant unknown)in Columbiana Co. OH, was born 1823 in Philipsburg, PA (Centre Co.). She married William BURLINGAME as his second wife in 1842 in either PA or OH. She may have previously been married to a BAUGHMAN/BACHMAN, as some genealogies have that as her maiden name. In his Columbiana Co. OH biography, their oldest son Isaac BURLINGAME, born 1843, says he was born in Beaver Co. PA, and reared and educated in Clearfield Co. PA. The next son, Henry, born 1845, was born 3 miles from Clarkson, Columbiana Co. OH. William BURLINGAME must have moved around a lot, or perhaps spent summers at census time near his father in Beaver (later Lawrence) Co. PA, as he's in the 1850 census in Lawrence Co. PA. Nelson BURLINGAME's 9-volume genealogy says that William BURLINGAME married Mary Ann KEPHART in "Belfountain, Ohio", which does not exist. Maybe he meant Bellefonte, as there was a now-defunct settlement in Columbiana Co. OH by that name, platted in 1816 by Nicholas Young (Jung?), who named it after his home town of Bellefonte, Centre Co. PA. But since there were KEPHARTS in both Centre/Clearfield Co's PA and Columbiana Co. OH, I can't determine in which Bellefonte they were married, or if I'm even right about that. Do you have any clues as to Mary Ann KEPHART's origins? Betsy Notify Administrator about this message?
