Hi Lilli and previous correspondents..
Reference the Kerbys of Kings Sutton in the County of Northamptonshire,England. I was born inthe village of Launton in Oxfordshire in 1937,about 20 miles south of Kings Sutton and now live in the county of Somerset. My father was Frank Leslie Kerby (died 1977)born in Rugby Warwickshire. His father,Alexander (born 1873) who died in 1924 was one of 4 Sons born to Thomas Kerby (a builder) and Sarah Adams his wife.(My great grandfather). They had 3 other children,2 of which died young: Sarah aged 6 in 1876 and Arthur aged 12 in 1884.Both are buried in the churchyard at Kings Sutton (We found the gravestones last year)We think,my wife Marion and myself that Alfred James Kerby 1888,must have been a son of one of Thomas's brothers.
My wife and myself had only one child,a daughter Hazel in 1969,who is married to Nick Gardner,so my branch of the Kerbys ends with me.
Did you know that a Thomas Kirby was vicar of St Peter & St Pauls Church in Kings Sutton in 1710! He died in 1714 and was born in Kings Sutton. We were also told that there was a lady who still lived in the village who's maiden name was Kerby.
All the best from the roots Country, Alex.
