In Reply to: Re: Kerby/Kirby in Sparta, White Co. TN and on to ARK., TEXAS, and OK by Hillra Qualls of 589

Hillra,

1850 White Co TN census:
Sarah Kerby 24?
Quintella 7
John 4
Richard 2

Dekalb Co TN marriage license iss. to Yancy Stephen and Ellit Kerby 23 Jan 1856.

Dekalb Co TN marriages: Jessee Walton to Elliot Kerby 2 Sept 1858.

1860 White Co TN census:
Saroah Kirbey 43?
John 13
Richard 10

Martha Kirbey 55
Harkless G. 15
Eliott J. Walton 22
Jas. R. 3
Wm. D. 1

Dekalb Co TN marriages: Ausly Stephens to Elliott J. Kerby 7 Nov 1860.

Dekalb Co TN marriages: John Kirby to Ellot Stephens 29 Mar 1870.

1870 Dekalb Co TN:
Sallie Kirby 50
Richard 18

John Kirby 24
Elliott 29
Jas R. Stephens 14

1880 Dekalb Co TN census:
John Kirby 34 cripple
Elliott 43 wife
Richard 10
Hercles G. 8
John S. 4
Noel 2

Martha H. Kirby 79
Mundelee Jackson 40 daughter
Margeon? 20 grandson
Thomas 11 grandson

[The above Martha "Patsy" Kirby's death certif. says she was a McInturff, buried Indian Mound Cem.]

1900 Dekalb Co TN census:
John Kirby 54 married 28 years
Elliot 62, 0 of 0 of their children living

1910 Dekalb Co TN census:
John Curby 65, married 39 years
Ellet 72, 4 of her 7 children living

As you can see, Elliott was married several times; having Walton, Stephens and Kirby children it would seem. Her husband John Kirby looks to be the John Kerby age 4 in the 1850 White Co TN census, Quintella's brother.

I would welcome any questions, corrections, or additions.

Betty
