Searching for information on Kerfut family from Dublin area, late 1700s, early 1800s.
Thomas Kerfut, builder, likely born mid to late 1700s, married Anne? lived on Camden Street in Dublin until he died in 1809 - widow remarried and their son William was sent to live with his paternal grandfather (Christian name unknown). In 1818, William Kerfut married and Elizabeth Hannan, in the Protestant Church of Ireland, Kilkenny, by Rev. James Kerr of Lister Lane. Elizabeth was R.Catholic, and it is said that she was disowned by her family as a result of her marriage to William. In 1819 William, Elizabeth and William's grandfather Kerfut left Ireland for Canada, and settled in Hull, Quebec. By the 1831 census, the couple had 4 children: Charlotte Jane 1819, Mary Ann 1822, Thomas 1824 and William Henry 1829. The family is listed as Protestant, except for their mother Elizabeth, who is listed as Catholic, and at that point "Kerfut" was changed to "Kerfoot".
Does anyone have any information on the family of Grandfather Kerfut, likely born in in or near Dublin in early to mid 1700s, married Elinor?, died in Hull, Quebec, Canada 1819.
