There is a branch of the Kerfoots in Alberta. They are believed to be related to the Providence Virginia Kerfoots. This branch started when W. D. Kerfoot came to Alberta (near Cochrane west of Calgary) from Fort Benton USA in September 1862. He was hired as manager of the Cochrane Ranche. He left that position to found his own ranch "Providence Ranch" in the Grand Valley near Cochrane Alberta. The ranch is still operated by Kerfoots today and there are many W.D. Kerfoot descendants in various locations in Canada.
