I am searching for any information regarding George (Kerfoot) Day. He was my great grandfather and was adopted by William and Mary Day when he was a child. He did remember that his surname was "Kerfoot" , that he was born in Maryland, and his parents were born in Virginia. I have found him on the 1880 cenus listed as the adopted son of the Days, but he is not listed as living with them in the 1870 census. William and Mary Day lived around Ottumwa, Iowa after they adopted him. I really don't know how to search for someone who has been adopted. Any infor most useful/ thanks
