The will of William Neild of Tarvin Parish, Cheshire, yeoman, written in 1690, repeatedly mentioned bequests from "Kirfoots money", obviously referring to money which had been repaid or was due to be repaid by a person named 'Kirfoot'. While some posts on this site mention Kerfoots from Lancashire, I have seen none cited as coming from the neighboring county of Cheshire. I post this for what it's worth. May be a lead useful to someone.
