There is a book "A Kerfoot History - Canadian Branch" by J. M. Morris, Published 1953 by Watt Letter Service, London - Ontario.
Chapter 1 starts: "The Kerfoot Family in Canada was founded by George Kerfoot who came from Coolcullen, County Kilkenny, Ireland, an aged widower with children , grandchildren and two great grandchildren in 1819. They landed at Nepean's Point (now Ottawa), a little party of eleven, and although nothing definite is known of their movements at first, it seems likely that they remained there for a year, during which time the old gentleman of the party died. The following year william Kerfoot and his three sons took up land in nearby Beckwith Township, Lanark County.
It is difficult to determine the exact personnel of the original party of Kerfoot immigrants. While tradition has it that there were eleven, only the following ten are reasonably authentic: George Kerfoot, William Kerfoot and wife, George Kerfoot and wife and two small children, Thomas Kerfoot, Samuel Kerfoot, and Eliza Kerfoot, all unmarried.
Other members of the family joined them later, date unknown. Ann Kerfoot and her husband Jacob Smith and small sone Joseph came and settled in the same localityh. Also three sisters of William Kerfoot, Mrs. McMullen Stephenson, Mrs. Griffith, and Mrs. Willoughby (nee Ann Kerfoot) must have followed the original landing party as their descendants are to be found throughout Eastern Ontario."
"1. GEORGE KERFOOT, was born in Ireland, dater and place unknown, and died at Nepean's Polint (now Ottawa) in 1820, his place of burial is unknown.
