Do you have any idea when your James moved into Arkansas?
The James Kerley you mention on the 1790 Burke Co., census is still there in 1800 . James, Henry and Larkin Kerley/Cearley are all listed or transcribed as Corley on the census. On the 1800 census James is shown with 3 males under the age of 5.
I did not find Henry or James 1810 yet. The Larkin listed is Larkin son of William Sr and Martha Cearley.
Several sons and daughters of William Cearley JR and related fanilies moved into Arkansas around late 1830's 1840's. They lived all over the state from Hot Springs, Montgomery, Pike, Polk, Washington and Benton Counties. I have yet to determine the relationship of James Cearley/Kerley listed 1790 and 1800 Burke to the other Cearley folk but he is most likely related.
If I find anything I will let you know.
Elizabeth
