Have been assisting a family friend researching the Kernan ancestry and have some information about this family in Louisiana. It appears that your ancestor John Kernan is the same person named in a publication: Old Families of Louisiana by Stanley C. Arthur and George Campbell Huchet de Kernion, Pub. 1931.

I have recorded in my FTM database that John Kernan, b. County Cavan Ireland, d. 1854, Jackson, E. Feliciana Parish, LA. He married about 1824, in LA, Martha LYTLE, b. 1809, County Cavan, Ireland, d. 1833, LA. They had five children: William Fergus b. 1925 (a prominent Judge), John A. b. 1828, Letitia b. abt 1831, Eliza b. abt 1830, and Matilda b. 1833.

Could you please tell me the source of your information indicating that John Kernan had brothers, Michael and Peter? Do you know anything of this family's Irish ancestry?
