Here's what I have on Peter and Martha Kernan. Peter was in the Civil War with Florida 3rd Infantry, Company A, along with his brother (my ancestor) William A. Kernan. They entered the service in August of 1861. According to the 1864 "Department of the South" census: Peter Kernan, height 5'8", eyes dark, complexion dark, age 41, born in Ireland, living in Florida since 1849, government employee. Martha Kernan, height 5'4", eyes blue, complexion fair, age 31, born PA, living in Florida since 1849. Mary Kernan, eyes blue, complexion fair, age 9, born in Florida. According to the Jacksonville, FL city directory in 1882: Mrs. Martha Kernan (widow of Peter) living at 119 E. Monroe. According to the 1896 City Directory: Mrs. Martha Kernan (widow of Peter) boarding at 525 E. Monroe. That's about all I have on them - contact the Jax Historical Society they can help you find out more. Hope this helps.
