My great great grandmother Rose Kernan was brought to Ironton/Cazenovia, Wisconsin from New York (perhaps Crown Point?) by her new husband Owen Manville in the mid/late 1850s. She remained in WI until she died in 1891. Her brother Francis came to Ironton before her, perhaps in 1854, with a man named Jonas Tower to mine (what else!) iron; he married a woman surnamed O'Neal & lived in Lavalle WI.
Unfortunately I know little more. I would love to especially know the connection between the Kernan & Manville families, I'm guessing the marriage of my ancestors was not the start of it, it is intriguing that Owen and Francis both came to a wilderness area around the same time (Owen came alone to WI to build a cabin/clear land, then returned to NY to marry Rose), then Owen returns to NY to marry Francis' sister. I know Owen at least had not been in the US long (he supposedly arrived from NY in the "1850s"). I do not know when or from where the Kernans came (I am only assuming it was from Ireland). My hunch is the came together from Ireland.
