Since my initial post, I have discovered more about the above KERR family largely thanks to a posting on RootsWeb and subsequent contact with the poster.

They actually have 4 children in Ireland (the fate of these children is not currently known) and they immigrated to the Australian colony of Victoria in 1874 on the ship ‘Weatherfield.’ A 5th child was born & subsequently died en route to Victoria while a 6th child was born there. Both Richard and Sarah died during 1890.
