I'm not related to the family. Everything I've given you has come from records at

I can't find George Kerr in any census before the 1900 census where he appears with his wife, Sally.

This is what I found on Edna (Kerr) Conner.

There is a Tennessee marriage record for the marriage of Joshua Conner and Edney E. Kerr on 15 October 1885 in Louden County, Tennessee. The record appears here:

There is a Tennessee death record for Alma L. Craig, who was born 23 September 1897 in Greenbock, Tennessee, and died of tuberculosis on 11 October 1920 in Alcoa, Blount County, Tennessee. Her parents names are given as J.O. Conner, born Morgonton, Tennessee, and Edna Kerr, born Morgonton, Tennessee. Alma was married, but her husband's name is not given, although the informant for the personal details is Wm. Craig. The death certificate is here:

The 1910 census has the following family in Civil District 2, Blount County, Tennessee:
Household Gender Age
Head Josh O Conner M 44y
Spouse Edna E Conner F 40y
Child William V Conner M 23y
Child James P Conner M 18y
Child Jesse E Conner M 16y
Child Arthur C Conner M 14y
Child Alma L Conner F 12y
Child Mamae O Conner F 10y
Child Josh R Conner M 8y
Child Clyde G Conner M 5y

The 8 year old Josh R. Conner in the 1910 census is probably your grandfather. The census record is here:

The 1870 census has a family with an Edna E. Kerr, but no George. However that makes sense, since George was not born until 1975. The household is:
Household Gender Age
Mary A Kerr F 30y
Sarah J Kerr F 7y
Mary M Kerr F 6y
Edna E Kerr F 3y
Jenney Kerr F 80y
The census record is here:
