Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

I only trace back to my grandfather who was born circa 1871.
My grandfather was James J. Kerrigan
My father was James F. Kerrigan and I had a brother James J. Kerrigan. My mother, now deceased, thought we were one more generation US born. James who married Sarah Walsh could not be direct relative but could be related as Cousin or common Uncle. Your opinion?
Keep in mind that Bronx and Manhattan are not far away at 125 St. Walk to ferry at that time was not out of the question.
