I don't believe there is a connection but since two surnames and a first name appear. I'll throw some items out.
As far as I know, my forbears on my father's side (Kerrigan) came from Ireland to New York City and stayed in the New York- New Jersey Area. My ancesters on my Mother's side came fron Scotland.
My Great grandfather came to America came to America pre 1871. His son, James Joseph Kerrigan was a fireman on new York City's first big fireboats from 1916 to 1936.
His son James Francis Kerrigan was a New York City Police officer from 1917 to 1944.
My mother's maiden name was Susan McIlwraith. She had six sisters, one of whom Margaret married William Gibson.
As I said,I believe the names are a coincidence without a real connection but one never knows for sure.
Thanks for your time.
